Our Story...

my story...

I knew I loved to be in the kitchen even as a toddler. In the 7th grade my favorite class was my Foods class. During an Honors Graduation banquet in High School I was asked what my dream was...I responded by saying, "I want to own my own Sports Bar and Restaurant, so I wouldn't have to miss a Lakers game."

Although I've always had an interest in going to Culinary School, I entered college at Cal State Long Beach undecided as a Major. When I later declared my Major in Interior Architectural Design, I wanted to pursue a career designing restaurants. In addition to my major, I minored in Hospitality Foodservice/Hotel Management.

After graduating college, I worked in a Design firm for a year before getting laid off. At the time, the interior design industry was not doing too well, so I saw this as an opportunity to try something different. I took a couple cake courses to learn the basics of cake decorating and started a blog to document this journey. Through cakes, I am able to be in the kitchen while still challenging my creative side.

Looking back at nearly 3 decades of my life, I've always referred back to the kitchen and being around food. It's a love...it's my passion.

my dream...

Now that I have about 2 years of cake decorating under my belt, my desire and dream to go to Culinary School is stronger than ever. In order to take my cake career to the next level, I believe the proper training is essential.

During my visit to New York City in September 2011, I toured the campus and facilities of the French Culinary Institute. Since that visit, I made it a goal of mine to attend that school, and gave myself about a year to make this dream happen (beginning of 2013). Soon I'll be 30 years young, and I think it's about time that I finally make my dream of going to Culinary School a reality....but Culinary School is VERY expensive, and will need all the help I can get.
